Presenting the Korea Gyeongbokgung Palace, from an angular perspective of up to 2.3mm high relief, and the background motif of the coin is inspired by the palace's traditional Korean angular roof, this spectacular 2oz silver coin is the second coin issue of the 10-coin series featuring specially selected landmarks of Asia.
Gyeongbokgung Palace is the largest and most iconic palace of the Five Grand Palaces in Korea. Built in 1395 during the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeongbokgung which means “palace greatly blessed by Heaven”, is located in the heart of Seoul surrounded by Mount Bugaksan and Mount Namsan. The traditional roof ridges of the Gyeongbokgung Palace are decorated with various animal-shaped roof tiles and figures to demonstrate the dignity and grandeur of the architecture and to chase away evil spirits and misfortune.
