2023 marks the commencement of a new lunar almanac cycle with the year of the rabbit. The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan proudly issues the Happiest Lunar Coin Series – 2023 Bhutan Lunar Rabbit coins, exclusively minted and marketed by The Singapore Mint. This new launch is the eighth coin issue of the Bhutan Lunar and Attraction series (2016-2027).
The blissful rabbit, adorned with big cloud swirls and leaves depicting the rabbit’s joyous adventures in Bhutan’s vast plains and forests, shares its blessings of good fortune with everyone.
The reverse coin design features Mountain Jomolhari, which is situated in the Himalayas and partly straddling the border of Bhutan. According to Bhutan mythology, Mountain Jomolhari is known as the “Mountain of the Goddess” as it is considered sacred to Buddhists who believe it is the abode of one of the five Tseringma sisters – female protector Goddess (Jomo) of Bhutan.
