On the obverse side of the coin, it features two panda cubs playing with snow, showing innocence and harmony between animals and nature. There is also a privy mark of 40 representing the 40th release of the panda coin. The reverse side of the coin features the famous Temple of Heaven found in Beijing along with the Chinese inscription above the image reading "People's Republic of China" and the year "2022".
Pandas are gentle giants and the national animals of China. In 2022, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first panda release in 1982 in China, there are two platinum formats that will join the usual line-up of gold and silver formats.
